A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Nearly fifty years ago, my father founded Syl-Lee Antiques, the business that I run today, because of his love of beauty and art. For as long as I’ve been around, that love has been a part of my DNA and that of my company’s, too.
Initially, my own passion led me into the field of hospitality management. I have always truly enjoyed helping others feel comfortable and secure. That desire to see people’s lives become less stressful and more satisfying — rooted in concern and empathy for others — has always been one of my core reasons for being in business, and I doubt that will ever change.
When I eventually left the hospitality industry behind and began working with my father, I realized that the antique world married my own love for art with that passion for helping others feel a sense of comfort, security, and satisfaction. And there are few times when someone needs to feel those things more than when the sale of antiques becomes an issue. After all, whether the antiques are for sale due to an older person downsizing or because of a family member passing away, the transition that triggers the sale is never an easy one.
That is why I am so zealous about being there and giving meaningful support to my clients during their difficult times. But during my decades in the antique business, I began to notice that the process of selling antiques — which should leave the seller feeling happy and appropriately financially rewarded — sometimes became unpleasant and stressful for all involved.

More and more often, people who had antiques in their estates became confused, frustrated, and even angry because of the opaque nature of the research and selling process. These sorts of frustrations only became more numerous as online search engines began to provide alternative (and often even more confusing) ways for an individual to research the value of their family heirlooms.
After years of observing all of this, I realized that my own professional history, value system, and experience in the industry uniquely positioned me to solve these problems. The goal of this website is to educate anyone looking to liquidate an estate or sell antiques about exactly what has resale value, how the antique selling process works, and how to research a realistic price.
If you have antiques you’d like to sell, I hope that the website and my book help the sale of your antiques leave you feeling satisfied, too — by making sense so you can make some cents!
